Possible sinusitis : Sounds like you may be developing acute sinusitis. The fever, bad smell,  bad taste all suggest this. It could be a viral infection if &lt;7  days duration, but if &gt;10 days, i would favor a bacterial infection . You should see md.

What to do: First, see a dentist for an exam and find out why you have those symptoms on your tongue and metallic taste. There are lot's of possibilities. Second, if you are concerned about getting std's, consult with your physician for an exam and testing. Better to be safe on both counts and  get whatever treatment you need (if any). Knowing you don't have anything serious is also comforting.

Hormones: 1.Certain times of cycle hormones are at a higher level and can promote bleeding gums(severe or very mild). Birth control mimics this effect.  The metallic taste could be from the break down of blood...Metallic taste may be the iron in the blood.  2.May also be a combo of this patch with your system...Patches deliver hormones directly and are more efficacious than oral pill, check with your doc.
