Meniscus tear: can often occur through trauma.  Many times tissue is weak and one last move can produce symptoms.  Please see your doc.  There is a good prognosis for this.  Peace and good health.

Varies: I am sorry you are not doing better, hopefully will resolve over time; I would certainly let your surgeon know.  Most common causes of posterior knee pain after a partial menisectomy would include : persistent effusion/bakers cyst, recurrent tear, or underlying chondromalacia that was not addressed in surgery.  Again, I would let your surgeon know you are having problems.

had 30% left medial meniscus removed july, 2014. now have pain there , across the front ,back, and outside of knee and i limp. what could cause this?

Varies: There are a number of possible causes.  The meniscus may have torn again, you may have developed some degree of chondromalacia in the same area, or you may have another component if your condition that was not addressed surgically and is still causing pain.  I would not hesitate to discuss with your surgeon.

Meniscus: The pain is not uncommon since most meniscus tears are located at the back part of the knee. The pain should resolve soon.

Physical Therapy: After the surgery should have been referred for PT.if not ask to be referred from your ortho.They can do alot to help.

Generally: Meniscus tears generally do not heal, because the blood supply to the meniscus is very poor. Root tears are at the very edge of the meniscus and are very difficult to manage. You should see and orthopod facile in arthroscopy. Meniscus tears usually cause swelling and pain.

Possible: See primary or if severe can do in many places orthopedic walk in clinic.Could be arthritis,if no history of trauma and dull pain behind the knee ,meniscus is lower on my differential .Could be also a sprain,tendonitis or a Bakers cyst.

Good test: Mri does see the back of the knee and some problems, such as popliteal cysts, can cause pain there. The posterior horns of the menisci are also at the back of the knee and MRI can assess meniscal problems very well. For best results, make sure a radiologist with fellowship training in musculoskeletal imaging is interpreting the study.
