suffering from jockitch from last 4 years. tried otc ointments. went to dermatologist. he prescribed oral itraconazole 200,oral terbenafine, oral ketoconazole till now with no effect. help!?

: It might not be 'jock itch' for you have not responded to the usual traetmen. Suggest consult at a reputable academic center. In the meantime you can try OTC Sulphur ointment to the  area. good luck

ive had chronic recurrence of ringworm for 3/4 yrs now.it reappears in the same places about 3 months after oral meds. nothing wrong w/my immune.tests hv shown pos for fungus.doc just prescribed oral itraconazole again.is this problem a danger for me?

: Tinea corporis, known as ringworm, often responds well to 3-4 week topical therapy, e.g., OTC Clotrimazole.  Skin fungus infection is more of annoyance than a serious health issue.

Yes, but…: Your fp may want to monitor liver function while you are taking sporonox as there is significant potential for liver damage. No interactions between the two drugs are listed. If you are taking other meds, they should be cross-checked as well.

It is one of the med: It is not good or bad but it is a useful anti fungal antibiotic which can be used for nail fungus of finger and toe nails and yeast infections.

Not really: Puts you at risk for increased xanax (alprazolam) level which can suppress your mental state since these meds all get metabolized by the liver.  Do you have a systemic fungal disease that is chronic?

i've had resistant ringowrm for a long time. it clears up with oral terbinafine but comes back. dermatologist now ordered itraconazole tabs 100mg 2x daily for 14 days. i can't recall if she told me to pulse dose? she's out for the week so i cant ask?

: I would follow the instructions on the medication label. If the dermatologist wanted to you take the medication in a certain way, she would have changed the instructions there.

: No drug is "safe" 100% of the time. So you need to discuss with your Dr your situation and the risks and benefits to you and then you can make an informed decision. I would also look at Drugs.com for side effects reported in placebo controlled trials in folks like you. They will have published the side effects in those on vs those not on the medicine.

just finished 14 days of itraconazole capsules (100 mg 2x daily) for resistant ringworm. ringworm faded but not gone. doc rx'd 21 more days of this med at same dose. given the possible liver damage from this drug, is it really worth taking? concerned?

: Yes, it is safe to continue. It is not unusual at all we have to use this antifungal medication for more than one month.
