Usual venous access: Intravenous injection of radiotracer tc 99m mdp in vein most of time at elbow, hand, etc. Usual sites of blood withdrawal. Lie on table with gamma camera positioned over areas of interest. Sometimes camera will go 360 degrees around patient to  get tomography of spine.

Easy imaging...: It sounds like you are referring to a three phase bone scan (flow, blood pool, and delayed images).  Early images can provide more information depending on what your condition is.  Early images are helpful to look for osteomyelitis, RSD, and some other conditions and can help determine if a condition is acute or chronic.

Indirectly: Smoking in general is not good for your health, but does not interfere directly with study. Sometimes secondary effects such as cancer are detected on bone scan.

For What Diagnosis: What is your diagnosis?  "cannot sit or bend" needs a careful workup first. Caution to not have anyone inject you without a specific diagnosis. Most people doing spine injections (e.g. "pain docs") have not had any spine training whatsoever. Epidural steroid injections help only for certain conditions, and are useless or even harmful if used indiscriminately.

Vitamin D3 is: usually raised by taking 5000 Iu capsules, once daily.  Please do what your doc says.  30 is just inside normal range.  Experts say between 50 and 80 is optimal.  Peace and good health.

i broke my radius which did not form a soft callus after 8 weeks. i had a bone grafy three weeks ago. could i benefit from calcitonin injections?

No: Unless you have calcium deficiency, giving calcium will not help. Even if you were deficient, oral calcium would be just as effective as that given by injection.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

what exactly is supartz injections? i've had many injections for my partial bone on bone on my knees; none work. would this particular injection be something to try? a friend of mine said that's the only one that worked for her? tx so much?

: I'm quite sure you've had prior knee injections that were similar to Supartz. I surmise you have advanced osteoarthritis of your knee. I never saw great results of these types of injections in cases of advanced knee osteoarthritis. Mild cases.may be helped. However, your physician or orthopedic surgeon can advise you best.
