Could be: Depression can present with lack of motivation but usually will have other symptoms like hoplessness and sadness. Add may cause lack of concentration and restlessness and hyperactivity.

Several Possibilitie: Alcohol cause chemical brain imbalance and is a depressant.  Certain medications and recreational drugs (marijuana) and depression can result in lack of motivation.  Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain.  Hormones can certainly do it, as well. Get a check up with pcp and ask for referral for a psychological evaluation.  That is the best way to get answers of this type. Good luck.

Husband &amp; Wife: The list of symptoms you mention indicate the need for both of you to see your doctor and perhaps a mental health professional after that.  Please support one another but each get well on your own.  If not, you will give one another excuses not to make progress when the other doesn't eat, exercise, or whatever changes are recommended. Yes, I think so.: It may be situational or related to a physical illness so see a doctor to catch a disease. A good adolescent psychologist or psychiatrist can help you discover if it is mild or severe and provide the right treatment. So much is happening in these late teen years that it is worth getting yourself into good shape for adulthood. You only feel worthless, you really have value - find it - it's there!

Call PCP: Or call a crisis line if need be 911 or the ER if you need to keep safe, this is definately treatable, Gent involved with a counselor, -lots of options but begin getting help , group, chruch, call community mental health center, and PCP can hlep maybe psychiatrist referral, do not wait!!!!

One's primary care doctor and a psychiatrist can help.

This is very serious: in a 19yo . My only advice is to get in to see a psychiatrist as soon as you can. There can be many causes. On things is to check your family history for depression. Familiar depression is no unusual in young people. It’s also serious with young onset. Don’t waste any more time. Make an appointment as soon as you can. Be sure to stress how bad your symptoms are.
