Apple and orange...: Dentist deal with dental problems concerning teeth, gum, oral cavity, disease of head and neck with dental origin, the overall health issue with dental origins.  Dentists do take anatomy class with practice on cadavers, however, the instructors will stress more at the head and neck structure regarding muscle of mastication and facial expression.  Doctors are concentrated on different areas.

   May be stress related-- appropriate time to consult with clergy, pschologist, etc. Immediate relief can be achieved with a Benzocaine  Gel- over the counter product, applied 4 times a day.

Remedy: A remedy is a cure, and there are no home cures for decayed teeth. You will need to find a way to see a dentist, at a minimum to have the tooth extracted. See if a local dental school, hospital, or clinic an treat you at a reduced fee.

CT scans: I recommend a high resolution CT scan (and possibly a 3D CBCT) of head and neck followed by thorough evaluation by a Neurologist, ENT, Endodontist and possibly a Pain Management Specialist

Tonsil problems: Hello, actually both doctors will be able to evaluate tonsils. Dentists will see the tonsils with every oral examination as will your family physician. A referral to an ENT doctor will be needed if problems exist beyond your family doctors treatment capabilities.

Get to know them: You need to understand the purpose of seeing your providers.  Trust them, get to konw them.  Determine for yourself the importance of it and make a concerted effort to have self control.  There is not med or perfect treatment.  Self control is all you really have and if you make up your mind to be in control you can be.  It doesn't hurt to have a anti anxiety  med a few times either.
