That dpends: The nerve damage is rated three ways:1) numbness/little weakness, 2) major numbness/obvious weakness, 3) doesn't feel or move the hand. For the lattr two, in an acute laceration(not tearing injury) surgery to repair the nerve is best option.
If the first type, then therapy and protective care will give the best outcome.

i have median nerve damage and also missing a tendon below my thumb from having carpal tunnel surgery. im hearing nerve grafts and im scared ?

Better leave alone: The wrist is a very important and sensitive part of the body.  Important nerves, blood vessels, tendons, and bone structures are in the wrist that can be disrupted by surgery.  Best to allow full recovery and manage without further surgery if possible.  A good ot therapist can help you develop return of function.

does opll of your cervical cause ulnar and median nerve damage? they want to move my ulnar nerve and open up my carpal tunnel after my neck surgery due to severe neuropathy in all three areas. is this to much surgery? i do have significant atrophy?

: Do not have enough information to even comment on causation.  The question of ulnar nerve transfer and carpal tunnel decompression could be objectified by an EMG/ NCS study, and a second opinion from a hand surgeon of be of great value.

discectomy l4 l5 three months ago. i had almost no leg pain after surgery. last week severe pain came back down my leg could this be nerve damage?

Recurrent herniation: One of the primary possibilities is a recurrent disc herniation, which occurs in about 10 - 15% of patients.  Alternatively, there may be scar tissue developing at the surgical site, or you may have a disc herniation at a different level.  See your physician if symptoms persist.

what should i do about nerve damage 1 yr. and a half after surgery? i had surgery for my veins in my left leg. it was not sucessful in any way. my lower leg to my foot is numb and tingles. the doctor has admit to nerve damage. my neurologist said to wait

Two : Two things may have happened - nerve was severed or contused.  If it is just a contusion, the nerve will recover, but it will need to grow back - the growth rate is arround 1 mm every other day, or around an inch a month.  You need to check where the damage was and then measure to see how long it will take to recover.  If the nerve was severed, you will need surgery, so the nerve can be repaired.  
For a better answer for your question, more information is needed.  Find an orthopedic surgeon specialized in microsurgery, and he/she may be able to help you.

: Check with your surgeon . If no permanent damage then with PT this can gradually recover. You might also need special foot wear. Good luck

Nerve damage : It depends on the underlying pathology. If there is nerve damage from a compressive pathology like carpal tunnel, the pathology will typically progress and worsen. If it is after acute injury like a fracture, it will typically heal very slowly. An EMG may be able to sell the severity if the nerve damage and your doc should be able to answer your question fully. Yes: Neuropathic pain can be associated with conditions before and after spinal fusion procedures. No surgery is perfect and sometimes nerve pain can continue or worsen after intervention. There are options to deal with these pains, and are considered on a case by case basis to determine the appropriate treatment options.
