Nerve damage : It depends on the underlying pathology. If there is nerve damage from a compressive pathology like carpal tunnel, the pathology will typically progress and worsen. If it is after acute injury like a fracture, it will typically heal very slowly. An EMG may be able to sell the severity if the nerve damage and your doc should be able to answer your question fully. Nerve regrowth: It will depend on various factors. Type of injury, completeness of injury, emg/ncv findings, duration are few of the factors influencing outcome. Discuss with your surgeon to get better answer.
