DDD: After the age of 35, the water and protein content of the cartilage of the body changes. This may cause the gradual deterioration of the disc between the vertebrae is referred to as Degenerative Disc Disease. Usually a combination of treatments is used to help manage the disorder. Most patients treated with non-surgical treatments, but in some cases surgery is necessary.

Yes: Yes, in allogeneic stem cell transplantation- where you have bone marrow donor from somebody else- your blood group type can change. Not in the case of autologous transplantation- where you use your own bone marrow.

Who is donor?: This depends--if it is an autologous transplant where a patient receives their own cells then the immune system and blood type are unchanged.
An allogeneic transplant comes from donor different than the patient.  In this case the immune system changes.  Also, if the donor has a different red cell type then the recipient's blood type will change too.

Rarely: More precisely interferon beta has rarely been associated with "pancytopenia" meaning a decrease in all the blood cell lines, platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells. It can be serious if undetected since low platelets can result in bleeding and low WBC counts can result in serious infection, but a patient on the drug can be monitored for this and the drug discontinued if problems occur.

See hematologist: Can't answer here.  See a hematologist (blood specialist), get examined; find out.  Sometimes can't find out cause without evaluation of bone marrow.  Follow up with your regular doc too.

So far it has only been used in small experimental situations, but it holds enormous potential for people with inherited diseases such as sickle cell anemia.

Advanced stage: When bone marrow cells move to spleen/liver, it may mean bone marrow is failing & cannot make blood cells effectively. Therefore, the spleen &  liver take over to do the job- then they get enlarged &  blood count also drops & many  patients may require transfusions. Patients may have fevers etc. Treatment is available for enlarged spleen &  fevers. (jakafi).Younger patients may need transplant.

Donor stem cells.: The donor's blood forming cells "take over" after a successful transplant and make the red cell type of the donor's.  Also the recipient acquires the immune system of the donor as well.
