Depends on the site.: If gastric, treat the h.Pylori first.   If it's still persistent of if inovlving airway or eye, usually radiation therapy alone is curative.   Some medical oncologists like to give rituxan, (rituximab) but that is controversial.

Usually none: Hello, 
malt lymphoma in the thymus does not commonly involve the marrow but it does need to be checked.  Sometimes you don't see any changes or symptoms.  Occasionally you may see a lower white blood count, hemoglobin, or platelet count that suggests involvement.  Good luck.

Yes you can: Malt lymphomas are typical indolent and asymptomatic. They can involve the lymph nodes or be infiltrating an organ. Symptoms, when present, are due to local compression causing swelling or local pain if the tumor has grown to  a good sized mass.

Not typically: Gastric malt lymphoma is usually characterized by being localized to the stomach alone.  The back of the tongue is a part of another lymphatic region known as waldeyer's ring and people can develop lymphoma there, but swollen tastebuds is not a common appearance for lymphoma.  So they are not guaranteed to be related.  If you have a gastric malt and are suspicious, see an ent.

Lump or mass: A lymphoma on/in the eye would produce a lump or mass. Lymphomas of the eye uncommon.

for months, ive had a worsening feeling of a lump or construction in my rt neck above collarbone; worst when lying down. recent thyroid us was clear. im concerned about possible lymphoma or other conditions involving the supraclavicular node.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity at tolerated.

my son has crohns since 2014.  methotrexate for 3 1/2 years.  his tsh at diagnosis was 3.98.  today it is 5.38.  t4 normal.  no symptoms of thyroid issue at all.  worried it could be tumor or lymphoma.  gi wasn't worried - but not sure she would know?

Mgt.: If he is taking immune modulators, I would suggest possible imaging and an appointment with Endocrinology.

i had thyroid ct scan, everything was normal. had labs today for upcoming app. & doctor ordered lymphoma blood test. any reason why if scan was normal?

Unrelated diseases: Hi. The lymphoma blood test (flow cytometry, I assume) looks for a monoclonal white cell population. A CT of the thyroid (not a standard or ideal test for thyroid evaluation) looks for anatomical abnormalities of the thyroid. Thyroid anatomical abnormalities and lymphoma are distinct conditions with the very rare exception of thyroid lymphoma. Have you had a needle biopsy of your thyroid?

would a cat scan of the neck show cancer including lymphoma?

Accepted Answer

Maybe: Only if the lymphoma is in the neck, and then only as enlarged lymph nodes that you could probably feel anyway. Good luck with this workup. Other cancers -- only if it's large enough and actually there. Remember that even the deadliest cancers can be very localized.
