: Certainly.  These are reasonable doses of vitamins and should not cause a problem assuming the rest of  you is well!  However, it begs the question:  what do you expect the magnesium to help your body with?

if i'm taking 125mcg of synthriod for my thyroid. will taking magnesium 250 mg a day conflict with it. if so what should i take for muscle twitching?

Thyroid and muscle: The added magnesium will not conflict with the synthroid (thyroxine).  There are many causes of muscle twitching.  You list a number of procedures, suggesting that you have been worked up extensively, perhaps by a neurologist, so it is hard to know what to add, other than make sure the thyroid dose is correct, try cutting out caffeine, and stress reduction.

is there anyone who cant take magnesium supplements? 250 mg daily. my serum magnesium level is 2.3. does that rule out deficiency ?

Magnesium: Serum magnesium levels do not reflect total body magnesium stores. RBC magnesium is a better reflection of total body magnesium levels. Few doctors know this or will order an RBC magnesium. Thus many patients who are total body magnesium deficient are total they are fine because of a normal serum magnesium level.

can i take magnesium oxide 250 mg with klor-con potassium 20meq?? i have hx of v-tach. magnesium level is normal but ive heard it can help with pvcs?

Magnesium: It can.  Although serum magnesium normal, it does not reflect tissue magnesium. I would also recommend magnesium glycinate. It has far better absorption

Review with your doc: Magnesium is one of those minerals that can cause a lot of problems if you take too much of it.  The recommended dietary allowance of magnesium is 320 mg; getting this from food sources is entirely safe. Taking more through supplements may cause diarrhea, nausea/vomiting.  I'm not sure why you think 250 mg is not enough, but taking up to 320-350 per day should be safe. But check with your doctor:)

what would cause elevated liver enzymes of  alt 70 and ast 36? i don't drink, only take 250 mg magnesium and prenatal vitamins for nursing.

Probably not a worry: Those levels are really borderline high.  If your not ill and have no other symptoms I would just get it rechecked in a month or so and don't lose sleep over it.

1-2 pills: If his kidney functions are ok he can 250-500 mg magnesium. If he gets diarrhea cut the dosage why he has low magnesium ?  Does he take water pills? Does he have muscle aches or pains or muscle cramps high BP or heart problems. These are some symptoms of magnesium deficiency

Why need it?: If for supplementing a low mag level, use magoxide. If for treating constipation, mag citrate is best. Be cautious of self prescribed mag since it may be a problem for some people like those with weak kidneys or on meds that can retain magnesium like spironolactone.

Normal: Magnesium levels are controlled by your system. Unless a disease process is lowering your levels or chronic hormonal conditions, a reasonable diet will suffice.
