"Could be": I am afraid that's the best answer I can come up with. Both may in fact be a type of "auto-immune" disorders conditions where our immune system FALSELY identifies one of our body organs as FOREIGN and "attacks it" with cells/antibodies of our own immune system.,

Accepted Answer

Depends: Often lymphocytic (microscopic) colitis may spontaneously regress and never need treatment.  A low fat and low fiber diet can be tried first with symptomatic treatment of diarrhea with medications (like immodium or lomotil).  Only more severe, persistent forms will need drug treatment just like other chronic inflammatory colitis.

i have been diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis and have severe butt , hip, and leg pains, is this normal?

Yes possible: Lymphocytic colitis also known as microscopic colitis , as to nacked eye colon looks normal has to be detected by microscope by lmphocytic infiltration in the mucosa,  is associated severe watery diarrhea results in loss of electrolytes, especially potasium . It may be the cause of your muscle pains , check your  k level, may need suplements. See your doctor.

i was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis 4 years ago and given entocort ec for treatment. will it ever go away for good or is it a lifelong illness?

Impossible to say...: The likelihood of "cure" of your microscopic colitis depends in part on your medication compliance, clarifying the diagnosis, and avoiding use of nsaid's (like aleve, (naproxen) advil, motrin, etc.).  Talk with your doctor about alternative medications to entocort for long-term use, if needed.

Maybe: Most people with lymphocytic colitis have diarrhea. It can certainly cause n/v/bloating. Localized RUQ pain is likely different. Get the colitis under control and c what happens. There is no test to determine otherwise.

p-anca results high and ibs-d issues alleviated by cholestrayamine. colonoscopies every 1-3 years for colon polyps removals since age 30. only abnormal colon biopsy results have been lymphocytic colitis and an colon adenoma. no uc dx? ideas?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, positive P-anca by itself is not diagnostic of UC. You are doing the right thing by seeing your doctor regularly.    Wish you good health!

If you are being: treated with steroids along with other medication for ulcerative colitis then I agree, as long term steroid use can cause de-mineraliization of bone leading to a higher than average risk for fractures, as well as other complication.

Various: Some cases of lymphocytic colitis will resolve by themselves or with diet modification. Others may need steroids, anti-inflammatory or other drugs.

Usually but depends: Colitis is a general term, and there are many different types. Pain is a  common symptom in many of them.

Accepted Answer

Tummy Ache: Focal colitis is a general term for inflammation of a particular area of colon. Usually this is caused by food-borne illness or inflammatory bowel disease (like crohn's disease). Very rarely serious pathology like mesenteric ischemia can show a focal colitis but you would be extremely ill. Typically a colitis will resolve on its own, but can occasionally need antibiotics.
