Lung blebs: Small collections of air on the pleural surface of the lung which can rupture & cause pneumothorax. Commonly seen in pilots.

Yes and no: Blebs are best seen on ct scans of your chest, but nothing (short of a prior history of "rupture") can reliably predict future rupture.

Mgt: The imaging study may be uploaded to an inbox consult for review. The CT study can demonstrate blebs.
If you are a smoker, I would advise quitting.

Follow up with MD: While it is possible that the shortness of breath is due to pain from the surgery, it is also possible that this represents re-collapse of the lung from an air leak, or fluid that has accumulated in the chest after surgery.  In either case, you should contact your surgeon's office to be seen and to get another chest xr to look at the lung.

about 7 months ago i had a collapsed left lung with chest tube and surgery. burst bleb. every time i cough or sneeze i feel pain in left lung. why?

Inflammation: Make sure you dont have a recurrent partial collapse. If not you may have inflammation of the pleural cavity or irritation of some of the nerves along your ribs on that side. You may need a course of anti inflammatory medications ir evaluation by a pain specialist as you shouldnt have pain this late. Discuss with your surgeon

Blebs and pleurisy?: I don't think i can give  you a straight answer without more information. What were the resections for? Do you mean you had recurrent pneumothorax? And the pleurisy, was any pleural fluid drained? Beside what you mentioned any other medical problems? Without these data it would be impossible to give you a meaningful answer.

i am a thin under weight guy. i have sub-plural blebs in bilateral lung apices. i have minimal left side chest pain. will this blebs cure on its own? do i require to increase my weight to cure it. please suggest me some home remedies?

: This combination of problems is suggestive of Marfan syndrome, a developmental disorder with various manifestations of weak connective tissues. Have you perhaps been diagnosed with Marfan? If so, discuss with your doctor. If not, see an internal medicine specialist to start, or perhaps see referral to a genetic medicine specialist. Good luck.

Emphysema: is a disease of the lung which is either caused by smoking or a genetic disorder. Emphysema destroys lung tissue and creates holes called blebs that look like Swiss cheese holes. By themselves, they are not dangerous, but they can lead to pneumothorax (collapsed lung). Since they are associated with smoking, they can be the location of future lung cancer. So please STOP SMOKING.
