Inside: Discs are way inside.  Even if they bulge, you can't feel a lump from the outside. Must be something else.  Possibly a lymph node?

Neck and shoulder pain are probably not related to your new finding in the trap muscle.
It might be helpful to have someone take a picture of the lump. Furnucle, lipoma are two benign conditions that might be there. 
Over the counter med  like naprosyn or ibuprofen with food may help the overall neck and shoulder pain. Can purchase at customcaremedical.com store.

Occipital neuralgia: involves the greater and lesser occipital nerves located in the back of the scalp and can produce neck pain as well as headache. The most common symptom is suboccipital pain radiating to the back of the head and occasionally down the back of the neck. This is treatable condition. Rec. see orofacial pain or pain management specialist. You can take Advil (ibuprofen) pm as needed.

Time to see your Dr: I'm trying to follow what you are saying, but one thing is clear.  Something is not right.  Many of the symptoms you describe may occur from hormonal or vitamin issues, but they also could be signs of a more serious problem.  Ask to be scheduled for a comprehensive physical and some lab work.  Good luck.

: It may be an enlarged lymph node. You may feel the node every couple of weeks, if the lymph gland doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor.

Hard to say : Would need more info and exam.  If it has been fairly recent swollen nodes can cause similar symptoms and are often associated with a viral or bacterial infection.  A good medical checkup would probably be a good place to start.

Regardless of where the bump is, you should have it examined by a medical professional to determine its origin and any course of treatment.

Lymph Node: Possibly a lymph node, enlarged from a draining abscess. Tooth pain indicates need to see a dentist immediately. If this is a draining abscess and it flares up you could be in a serious medical emergency which could include throat closure and toxins traveling into your chest. Do not dismiss the symptoms your body is giving you.
