: Nerve compression can alter sensations, most commonly promoting pain, and decreasing sensations.  If smaller fiber pathways become involved, temperature perception becomes altered, and legs and feet may either feel like "burning" or "freezing".  This more commonly is noted with peripheral neuropathies, but may be seen with pinched nerves in the appropriate distribution, usually unilaterally.

: If the nerve root is significantly compressed, this will cause both numbness and pins and needles tingling unilaterally in the L5 nerve root distribution.  Bilateral symptoms would suggest lumbar stenosis, cauda equina syndrome, or polyneuropathy.

Lumbar nerve: A lumbar nerve block is 1 way to treat pain caused by compression of a lumbar nerve root. It can be done " blind" or via fluoroscopy or us guidance. Local anaesthetic and a steroid is injected close to the nerve. If the correct nerve location is identified, the pain will resolve.

I don't see any : Correlation between the two. Lumbar radiculopathy or pinched nerve in the lumbar spine would cause shooting pain from the lower back down the thighs and legs. The nerve distribution from the lumbar area will not affect or reach the prostate area. Chronic prostatitis is from recurrent bacterial infection or unknown cause

i have a pinched lumbar nerve, tried pt but pain has got worse i can't stand to be on my feet long it goes down my leg and numbs my foot?

Be seen: I would certainly be seen in followup, if you have not had an MRI you may need one to fully evaluate your problem.  Progression in neurological symptoms, particularly if weakness develops, can sometimes be an indication for surgical intervention.

l-spine in extreme pain for 7days. had l4/5 microdiscectomy in 2001. pain is on right side+continues to my right upper hip. i have aches and pains in my quadriceps intermittently. sitting is excruciating. any ideas which lumbar nerve is the cause?

Physical: You need a physical exam to determine where the deficit is. Red flags which require immediate attention includes, fever, loss of strength and sensation, saddle anesthesia, bowel or bladder incontinence.

Talk with your: doctor about acupuncture. It won't heal the underlying cause of your radiculopathy but may reduce pain and improve range of motion. take care.
