A member asked:

Can compressed lumbar nerve roots cause cold water sensation in legs?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nerve compression can alter sensations, most commonly promoting pain, and decreasing sensations. If smaller fiber pathways become involved, temperature perception becomes altered, and legs and feet may either feel like "burning" or "freezing". This more commonly is noted with peripheral neuropathies, but may be seen with pinched nerves in the appropriate distribution, usually unilaterally.
