if you have a kidney that is functioning low will it cause pain and could that pain be on your left side and low back just above the waist?

Accepted Answer

Maybe : A "low functioning" kidney, by itself, should not cause pain. BUT, a kidney infection or a kidney stone COULD cause exactly the kind of pain you're having. Either way, it must be evaluated by your physician ASAP to make sure it's not something serious.

6'3" weight 152, waist 28.5 inches.  was fast triathlete, but deteriorated.  ck levels were 500 u/l.  why is my muscle breaking down?  low body fat?

See below: Since you are not exercising, you could have inflammatory myositis, metabolic myopathy, or some neuromuscular disorder.  You need to see a rheumatologist or a neuromuscular specialist.

when im moving around i have pretty strong pain in my left side/low back just above the waist it feels better to sit its pretty much the only symptom?

Musculoskeletal: This discomfort sounds musculoskeletal rather than due to kidney disorder such as stone or infection. Try resting,apply intermittent cold or heat,rubbing linlment,and,if you can take them,NSAIDS like ibuprofen should help. See your Physician if symptoms persist or if a rash appears(shingles).

i am 32 wks + 1 day and sometimes when i feel my son moving its very painful below my waist. i figured its because he must be low now. any insight on this?

Posssibly: There are many causes of low back pain and hip pain.  Often they are related.  A bad hip can cause buttock, groin, and/or thigh pain.  Sometimes a pinched nerve in the back can cause back, buttock, and thigh pain depending on which nerve is involved.  If your pain does not improve or gets worse you should contact your physician to help identify the cause.

paralyzed waist down, bubbles in cath bag after suds enema accidentally put in vagina.low grade temp for 2 days. could enema cause uti or worse?

Yes: If some of the soap solution got into the urethra around the catheter and it was not sterile or if there is an abnormal connection between vagina and bladder.  
With a fever and changed appearance of urine you should be checked for a UTI.  GOod luck.

Myelodysplasia: Myelodysplastic syndrome typically have a high mcv. Most of the myelodysplastic syndrome results from chromosome mutation. Myelodysplasia is considered to be a precancerous  state. You need to be closely followed up by a hematologist.

For weight loss ...: You cannot target specific areas for weight loss - if you have adipose tissue to lose (not everyone does), then consider an increase in cardio & a balanced diet. However, do not always do the same exercise or you will increase your risks for stress injuries. Mix things up with walking, running, biking, swimming, elliptical, or circuit training. Ultimately you need to burn more than you consume.

Healthy ways to gain weight include eating more frequently (5-6 smaller meals a day), nutrient rich food (whole grain pasta, dairy products, protein, nuts); smoothies/shakes; don't fill up on liquids; snack on cheese, peanut butter; add extras such as cheese toppings; occasional treats! Hard to increase waist; some think squats, deadlifts , weighted ab work with side bends
