Maybe strep throat: A person can get herpes lip sores recurrences when he is stressed with another infection such as a strep throat. His primary care doctor can do a rapid strep test and get a result in 5 minutes. Antibiotics are needed for strep throat.

Throat infection : The group of symptoms listed can form a cascade. Tonsils can be swollen from infection, possibly viral or bacterial. Referred  pain from the throat to the ears is common, so the ears hurt. When there is an infection in the throat, lymph nodes in the neck would swell, which may become sore, and cause the neck to feel stiff.

Possible lymph nodes: Tonsils are lymph nodes--the structures that hold many cells of our immune system. They can get enlarged as a response to infection. There are glands in the neck often called 'swollen glands' when enlarged, so often the two go together and both can feel sore if inflamed. Strep throat and many viruses can cause this. Cancer is rare for what you describe, but i strongly recommend seeing your doctor.

Most likely pain : The pain most likely in this scenario is from enlarged and inflamed lymph nodes in your neck region and may also be muscular pain or myalgias that can accompany an infection, usually viral in origin.  If persists or worsens see your doctor.

Tonsillitis?: You probably have tonsillitis or inflammation (swelling) of the tonsils and that makes some lymph nodes in your neck to react by making more cells (lymphocyte) to fight  any germs and thus the nodes become larger. It is quite common among teenagers and young individual to have what we call reactive lymphadenopathy (what I described). Lymph nodes should go back to normal as the tonsils do

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. You should not be getting swollen tonsils. It would be prudent to see your doctor, preferably an ENT doctor.

Chronic : Chronic tonsillitis can be quite bothersome.  Failure to respond to several courses of antibiotics might be an indication to have a tonsillectomy.  You might want to se an otolaryngolist, ear nose and throat specialist, for further evaluation.

Should get better: Some born with poor IgA production tend toward more ear/sinus/diarrhea infections in infancy.Many of these can be quite worrisome and admission for dehydration, etc would be expected.They are not as prone to severe infections as those with combined deficiencies, and most are less vulnerable as they get older, when size reduces risk of dehydration and general immunity builds up.

my 11yo daughter had strep 2 wks ago and took amoxicillin. has cont'd to feel nauseas with swollen tonsils. feels "gaggy". could it still be strep?

Depends: It depends on why your tonsils are large.

If your tonsils are enlarged suddenly due to a bacterial infection (tonsillitis) then you may need antibiotics.  If your tonsils are always large even when you are not sick, you could have them removed if you have sleep apnea. If only one tonsil is large, you should be seen by an ENT surgeon.
