Symptom: Low pulse likes yours is good no need for therapy as long as you are asymptomatic.  Active people and athletes usually have a low pulse.

low pulse rate. i am 37. not in great shape. at rest it gets. down in the low 50s bpm. should i be concerned?

Sign of health: Actually, even though you consider yourself to be not in great shape, the slow pulse suggests you're better than you think.  Heartrate is regulated by need and during rest, a slow hr is entirely normal so long as your metabolic need is normal as yours obviously is. A rapid resting rate is much more ominous.

Many things: Medications are a common cause.  Electrical problems are another.  An ekg and discussion with your doc is definitely warranted. A low pulse associated with symptoms of low cardiac output or a pulse below 30 require immediate attention.

beta blocker ( 5 mg bystolic) @ am causing low pulse rate low 50 day time and high 30 to low 40 while sleep.is this ok/any risk.
i take amlodipine @pm

Talk to your Dr: I would not call your beta blocker as the problem--it is not a high dose, and should not have that pronounced of an effect through the entire day into the night. You may just have a low resting heart rate, in which case other class(-es) of meds may be better options for you. Should discuss your concerns w/your dr--otherwise will never know about this!

taking 5 mg bystolic (nebivolol) @ 8 pm causing low pulse rate day 50 to low 60 and while sleep high 30 to low 40 . can amlopdipine be substitute if you have cad.

Yes but: Amlodipine is beneficial in CAD but uses a different mechanism than bystolic (nebivolol). Amlodipine won't slow your heart at all. If you have angina, a bb is preferable. If you don't have angina, amlodipine is a good alternative.

hi doctor my wife's pulse felt as if it stopped beating every 5 beats for 1 hour yesterday.the rate was 58 beats a minute.could it be a fib with such a low pulse rate? it's back to normal today. thanks?

: It is best that you have your wife evaluated with an EKG; however what you suggested is unlikely to be a fib. Evaluation and finding the cause, like if it is heart block, and appropriate intervention is better for your wife.

Evaluate  by doctor: High BP w slowish heart rate, abnormal heart function (abnl echo) and low sodium implies excessive activation of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system (causing free water retention and thereby lowering the sodium concentration in the bloodstream.  This can lead to chf.

Minor SOB, dizzy: May be reflux (GERD), independently or causing a mild reactive airway response or may be pulmonary asthma or cardiac. Would get an echocardiogram just to insure there is no cardiac abnormality.

my mom is 65 yrs. old with familial hyperlipidemia (5'2/128 lbs).she is having bradycardia when she sleeps and eats. her pulse is 36.what is this?

Too slow heart rate: Pulse rate of 36 is not normal. She needs evaluation to see why her heart rate is that low. Sometimes natural pacemaker has problem (sick sinus syndrome) and sometimes there is problem with electricity conducting heart muscle (heart block). If she has either of these condition then she needs a pacemaker. I would get a cardiology consultation and get electrocardiogram and a 24 hours holter monitor.

Symptomatic: When bradyarrythmia is symptomatic ie chest pain, hypotension, dizziness, syncope then it is an emergency requiring immediate treatment
