i have an estrogen level of 636. i am 55 , complete hyst in1999 & have been on 2 mg estrodiol daily. why is it so high?

A few possibilities: If your "complete hysterectomy" means removal of uterus and cervix only but one or both ovaries were not removed and you take estradiol, then your estrogen level is really not "high". If both ovaries were removed, the source of your estrogens can be your body fat, your adrenal glands, your pills, dietary hormones etc?  May wish to get a copy of your pathology report or consult an endocrinologist.

i was on 50mg. of clomid (clomiphene) from days 3-5 . when i had my blood work done 7 dpo my hormone levels were 44 for prog. and 632 estrodiol. any ideas on why?

Expected: Yes, that's exactly what you are supposed to see post-ov, Estradiol is around 400-600 and Progesterone is anything over 2-3. Congratulations!

Three Estrogens: Estrone, estradiol, and estriol are the three estrogens.  They differ in chemical structure which changes their potency and their site of action. Their site of secretion can be different, and their ratios change according to age.

No: The use of hormones in your case is truly replacement because your body naturally would have them until natural menopause (average 51).  There are some downsides to not having estrogen at your age like increased risk of osteoporosis and even in some cases heart disease.  Know that there are several options as far as hormones to use so ask your doc to look at other choices.

Estrogen: Endometriosis needs estrogens to make symptoms. If after stopping the Estradiol 1mg - which is a low dose and should not cause endometriosis to grow to begin with - symptoms what is thought to be endometriosis persists, that diagnosis needs to be challenged - it's unlikely to be endometriosis.

Estradiol: Estradiol is synthesized via aromatase from testosterone. Estrone is synthesized via aromatase from androstenedione. Estriol is synthesized from both Estradiol and estrone. Estradiol is ~10 times as potent as estrone and ~80 times as potent as estriol in its estrogenic effect. In some men on t replacement, too much t is converted to Estradiol and may require a drug like Arimidex (anastrozole) to block.

Labs are not key: Testicular size varies tremendously and correlates with nothing much. There are two questions. Are you horny, getting erections, and ejaculating (partner, alone) like your friends do? If so, great. If not, a work up is in order. Are you producing sperms so you can be a father if you want? That is a different lab test. Get it done. Your small testes may reflect infertility. Find out now.
