i have been very very fatigued lately. i'm a 62 yr female had lung cancer 2012 and upper left lobe removed. my blood work keeps coming back high immature platelet fraction,alkaline phosphates high,mchc is low and high hemacrit. should i worry?

WBC: Lung cancer usually does not affect the WBC count.

Varies: If you are getting active chemotherapy- your hemoglobin and white blood cells would be affected by the therapy and may go down low-requiring either treatment, transfusion or a short break from treatment. If your cancer has spread to the bone marrow- your blood counts may be affected. Otherwise, yiur hemoglobin/wbc would vary- from normal, low or high depending on your other medical problems.

Depends: Are you a smoker, family history of lung cancer? If you are, you should screen for lung cancer. How you know you got pneumonia? If you suspicious with pneumonia, then you should get a chest x-ray. If there's suspicious lesion on chest x-ray, i believe your doctor could order ct scan for you. Bottom line is go see your doctor.

Trust yourself: That blood pressure may be low for you as many people as they age need slightly higher blood pressure to function, though by most standards people would say those readings are acceptable. Trust yourself. If you do not feel well contact your physician and get advice from someone who knows your case but follow your feelings and take care of yourself and get help.

Unlikely: One of the best decisions you can ever make is to stop smoking now.  There are innumerable negative health effects associated with smoking.  With that being said, your presentation is more consistent with bronchitis, a small amount of blood is no cause for worry.  Lung cancer in a young person is highly unlikely, follow up with your doctor for persistent blood or worsening symptoms.

How do they FEEL?: The course in lung cancer is famously unpredictable, especially if it is non-small-cell. One's blood pressure need be only high enough to perfuse the body -- it'd be a shame for a person who simply needs a few glasses of water to say, "Oh, my pressure is low, the end must be near." I hope that in the end, the person about whom you are writing is able to pass on with comfort and dignity.

Not yet: It takes about 20+ years of smoking before Cancer shows up in your throat or in the lungs. This is high time to quit before lightening strokes and you may not have another opportunity to quit smoking in order to regain good healath.

Blood: At 25yo it would be unlikely to have lung cancer, but none-the-less, truly coughing up blood is something that needs to be evaluated further.  A simple Chest-Xray would be recommended to assure all is well.  Congrats on the Smoking cessation! Keep it up-Do not go back to smoking and get checked out.  Best wishes.
