what can be causing my all of  sudden loud noisy gassy bowels and passing of mucus when passing gas. it's noisy and explosive.

Pass Gas & Mucus: The passing of gas and mucus are common signs of "food poisoning, " or some kind of infection. It usually clears up in a few days. There are some other GI diseases that also present this way that are not infectious. If the symptoms don't clear in a day or two and/ or you notice blood in the stools, develop a fever, or experience intermittent or constant lower abdominal pain, see your doctor.

: It appears that you'rer experiencing excessive gastrointestinal gas formation but have little difficulty moving it down the intestinal tract&amp; expelling.it.Soft stools and some mucus in BM's suggest irritable bowel syndrome. Avoid gassy foods&amp; beverages and harsh roughage. Take simethicone 1/2 hour after meals to prevent gas buildup. Don't force yourself to belch as it makes you swallow air.

Colitis: Mucus colitis with blood tinged stool can occur with irritable bowel syndrome, proctitis,inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease or certain bowel infections .  A gastroenterologist is best qualified to evaluate and treat you if symptoms persist. Appropriate tests will be ordered.

i am having rumbling, gas, some nausea, diarrhea, and sometimes a thick brown mucus instead of normal bm. also a protrusion from anal opening. help! ?

GI distress: Those symptoms can occur in a variety of gastrointestinal complaints, &amp; a diagnosis would involve a detailed history &amp; a physical. General information that may or may not apply in your case: Protrusions from the anus frequently are hemorrhoids, but can be rectal prolapse (rectal tissue). Short-term nausea/diarrhea can be viral gastroenteritis, but many, many other causes exist.

my 1 month old is pooping with a lot of mucus. i beast feed and give her similar pro-sensitive. shes also having a lot of gases. her tummy sound loud with gases, and shes making a lot of effort when she poops. the color of the poop is yellow?

Sounds normal: This sounds like normal breast fed stools for a newborn. Stools are typically yellow, slimy/watery, and can be "explosive " at times. Breast milk contains natural laxatives, hence the gurgling noise you note. Straining while passing stools also very common - have you ever tried pooping while laying down? If your baby is gaining  weight and growing well, and no blood in stool, put yourself at ease.

Possible infx: You may have an intestinal infection, which could be viral or bacterial.  Any blood however is always abnormal, and you should see a dr. (preferably gi) for an evaluation.  Good luck.

Abdominal pain: It is not uncommon for children to get some gas pain, possibly backed up behind some stool. If the pain resolved after he had the bowel movement, it's probably fine. If it keeps recurring or worsens, he should see his doctor. If there is blood in the stool, or he starts vomiting, call the doctor.

Gluten: Gluten intolerance or sensitivity, lactose intolerance  and irritable bowel syndrome can cause these symptoms. Try avoiding gluten to see if symptoms improve. Bear in mind that if you're going to be tested for celiac disease you should continue to eat wheat and gluten products or else your test may be falsely negative.

Followup w ur doc: Wud need more info eg past medical history, present medications, etc. Happy to consult, but avoid milk/milk products, caffeine, sugar substitutes, high fructose (corn syrup) x2 wks and watch for "red flags" eg fever, belly pain, vomit, blood in stool, inability to keep up with fluids that require urgent MD attention. While most conditions eg viral get better on own, see ur doc if chronic (&gt;5days)

Typical IBS symptoms: As you suspect, these symptoms indeed are consistent with irritable bowel syndrome. But they aren't particularly suggestive of proctitis (inflmmation of the rectum). Inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. Crohn's disease) can cause similar symptoms as IBS, and also can cause proctitis.  So I suggest you raise these questions with the doctor who diagnosed IBS then follow her advice. Good luck!
