Dosage &amp; other meds?: Usually you could switch immediately, If you were taking large doses and other meds were involved there should be a careful plan that takes everything into account. Diazepam is longer acting than lorazepam so that would have to be taken into consideration for the smoothest transition.

Benzo's.: All are benzodiazepines. With shortest-acting being Lorazepam (ativan), then Alprazolam (xanax) , then Clonazepam (klonopin), then diazepam (valium) which can have half-life of up to 100 hours.

my mom (86yo) has been on klonopin long-term. she ran out of klonopin 2 days ago, and most likely can't get a refill until monday. i have lorazepam 0.5 mg or diazepam 5 mg, can she take one of these until then? she is having heightened anxiety?

: It's not advisable to substitute one benzodiazepine for another. In this case I would seek advice from her prescribing physician who knows her case thoroughly.

Depressant: Valium is an effective medication for short term anxiety relief and an effective rescue medication for seizures, but was not designed to be used long term for either medical condition.  Which antidepressants have you used that have worsened your seizure condition ?  Medications like Lamictal, Depakote, Topamax, and Keppra (levetiracetam) are indicated for seizure disorders but are also used for mood disorders.

?: Not sure i understand question, but all 3 usually calm down 'agitation'. They are rare to cause the opposite effect in the 'normal' brain. In the sleep deprived person or in someone with dementia, they could cause unexpected reactions.
