Yes: Tramadol and Ativan (lorazepam) do not interact.  They both can cause somnolence (tiredness), so you need to be careful not to take both and become a zombie.  If you are taking both of these medications on your own, i suggest you consult with your doctor.  There may be more optimal ways to treat pain or anxiety.

Safe?  Yes.: Lorazepam and temazepam are both in the class of benzodiazepines.  Both work by the same mechanism.  Lorazepam is shorter acting and 0.5 mg is a low dose so probably appropriate for daytime use.

for the past three days i've been taking lorazepam 0.5mg for some moderate work related anxiety. my last dose was around 14 hours ago. would it be safe to take 50mg of tramadol now? (i am prescribed this for back pain from a different doctor?

PROBABLY: High recommendation that these two meds not be combined sue to sedation. However the dose of the lorazepam is low and if it was that long ago should be fine. Hopefully your doctors know that you have been prescribed both and are in agreement.
