Generally you can't: Unless you have a fever or swollen limb which may suggest a clot more than sciatica otherwise not very specific.  I would suggest ruling out the clot first and then workup the sciatica issue afterwards.

Prolonged Sitting: can lead to Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). This happens more often on long flights where you really cannot move around much but sitting while riding in a car can do the same. Age can be a factor too. The solution is to take short breaks &amp; walk around a few minutes at least every 2-3 hrs on road trips &amp; long flights both. Also, mention it to your MD next visit for more tips.

Blood Clots: It can significantly reduce the clots if the ankles are forcibly pumped up and down to cause stagnant blood to flow out of the legs.

Accepted Answer

No it's not: Is it just one calf?  If so, you could have a blood clot and you need to be evaluated now.  If it is both, well, it COULD be two clots but that's unusual.  If there could have been pressure under the thigh during the trip and if the symptoms are resolving, then not to worry.  If you are on BCP's, then do worry.

It would not be: surprising for you to have developed a urinary tract infection resulting in your symptoms. It would be reasonable to have this checked out if the symptoms persist.

Ideas: When on a long trip of any sorts, breaking time up can be helpful.  You may want to set timers and play games.  Thinking like listening to audio book or podcast can help and changing focus (actually changing books after 30 minutes to 1 hour) can be helpful.  Chewing gum/eating but don't want to add a ton of extra calories.  The last recomm.--&gt; stop and brisk walk for 5 min every ~60 miles.

Road Trip: Hydrate well with water. Get up and walk around every couple of hours. While you are sitting in the car you can squeeze and release muscles in feet, calves, thighs and buttocks.

Unlikely: Makeup ingredients have been tested before marketing and they have a massive test with the millions of users out there.  A little in your eye is not different than almost everyone who at some time or other gets a little in their eye.  As long as your vision is fine and the eye is not staying red, then you should do fine.

It : It really depends on a number of factors such as cause (e.G, spontaneous, procedure related), how it was treated (e.g., observation, chest tube, pleurodesis), size, and follow-up.  I would assume your doctor will repeat imaging (e.g., cxr or ct) to check to make sure the lung has completely re-expanded or that pneumothorax has not re-developed.  I would wait for this before making any long trips.  If it has re-expanded than the road trip should be fine.  But again it really depends on the factors cited above.
