Choledocholithiasis: Big word.  The liver has bile ducts which drain into the gallbladder and the small bowel.  The bile helps with digestion. It is possible to form stones within the bile ducts of the liver.  These stones can cause pain in the right upper abdomen.  They can also block the drainage of bile, leading to jaundice or infection.

ERCP: Stones may form within intrahepatic bile ducts that are present within the liver.  An ERCP is an endoscopic procedure that can sometimes remove these stones.  If unsuccessful, surgery may be warranted.

Accepted Answer

Gallstones: Can pass in the stool but they don't pass in the urine. The gallbladder connects to the small bowel via the cystic/common hepatic ducts. Stones can pass into the small bowel and then into the colon and, as such, pass in the stool. Kidney stones pass via the ureters and bladder and have no communication with the bowel.

Sure: Your doctor should be consulted regarding your on-going symptoms.  If suspicion for biliary disease is high then HIDA scan would help.

my brother was diagnosed with choledocholithiasis so after several tests he went ahead with ercp and got the stone removed after 25 days of his first symptoms. his cbd is now clear. will the amount of time taken (25 days) cause him liver cirrhosis?

: This length of time of biliary obstruction will not cause cirrhosis, as long as obstruction does not recur. He should get vaccinated for Hepatitis A and B. Avoid alcohol and maintain healthy weight.

i'm 48 and had a gallstone stuck in the bile duct which got recently removed and i'm now free of all symptoms. the removal of duct stone essentially cures the acute or chronic cholestasis and prevents any permanent damage to the liver, right?

: Yes, liver tissues have good regenerative capacity. You should not suffer any long term consequences from that episode of acute biliary obstruction.

36 yo male. 2 weeks of pebble stone constipation and light brown stool. i have no other accompanying symptom including pain, bloating, etc. something to worry about? should i go have my pancreas and liver checked because of light brown stool? thanks?

Constipation: Yellow or clay colored stools would be more concerning. Increase your fluid intake, increase fiber in your diet and/or take a fiber supplement like Metamucil. If you have no urge or little urge to defecate, try taking senokotS daily as directed as this is a bowel stimulant, is not too harsh, and contains a stool softener. If not improved, consult a gastroenterologist for evaluation and advice.

does a common bile duct obstruction from a gallstone that lasts for 26 days (counted from the day of first symptoms) progress to liver cirrhosis? the stone has been removed, bile flow is fully back. will the duration of 26 days progress to cirrhosis?

: Overwhelming possibility is that it will not. Liver has great re-generative property. I think you will be fine

Renal pain : Renal colic is extremely severe and unremitting until the stone moves down the ureter and into the bladder. If your pain is persisting see your doctor and get a definitive diagnosis and treatment. Good Luck

You need  more eval: This could be a serious problem ...especially with your liver, but also possibly other things.  You need more testing and then appropriate treatment.
