i was prescribed zantac (ranitidine) 300mg. i have glibert's liver disease with bilirubin at 5.0. is it safe for me?

Gilbert's: Isn't really a disease per se. It can cause jaundice during periods of stress, but doesn't have any significant implications on your health. It's perfectly fine to take Zantac (ranitidine) if you only have Gilbert's.

what'd it be if i have on and off pain in my right side of abdomen? i've been having diarrhea, taken zantac (ranitidine) & ibuprofen to try to relief, to no avail.

Know wat ur treating: There's nothing in your right lower abdomen that ibuprofen or zantac (ranitidine) will affect. Simple diarrhea will cause sharp squeezing pains that come and go and are not affected by movement or pushing on the area cause it comes from increased intestinal peristalsis (squeezing). If diarrhea  more than a few days, or fever, chills, or pain is constant, or worse when moving or pushing on your belly, go to ER

stomach spasms for 24 hours in mid to lower abdomen.  also mild cramps on right side abdomen.  not sure if i should take zantac (ranitidine). ?

Stomach cramps right: I think you should see and ER or doctor/urgent care today, as with cramping on right side think appendicitis. Could also be ovarian cyst, mass, UTI, right diverticula ( which is rarer) kidney stone (especially if back pain). But since appendicitis is emergency would follow up w/ doc/ ER today.

i have upper abdomen (ulcer like) pain lately that isn't relieved my omeprazole or ranitidine. they used to work just fine for that kind of pain.

Consider these...: Recurrent abdominal discomfort is first addressed by accompanying signs/symptoms that may localize the organ involved:  bleeding, alteration in periods, pregnancy risk? Fever, nausea, vomiting, altered stool pattern, blood with stool, tenderness, distension? Painful urination, blood in urine?  Recent trauma, herniations? Also consider dysmotility, gastropathy due to nsaid's, alcohol, h.Pylori.

Depends on cause: Gerd (movement of stomach contents into esophagus) can result from: 1) inappropriate relaxation of lower esophageal sphincter, gastroparesis (sluggish stomach emptying, partial gastric outlet obstruction), ineffective esophageal peristalsis, inadequate salivary production. Limit consumption of: caffeine & fizzy drinks, dietary fats, tomato products, chocolate, tobacco, alcohol, bedtime snacks.

Safety of Zantac (ranitidine): I believe you are taking  forsymptoms arising from acid  in the stomach.  Long term stomach acid suppression is needed to suppress symptoms arising from  it or due to history of stomach ulcers., although more effective medicines  called as proton pump inhibitor  are available even over the counter sold as omeprazole.  Long term effects of acid suppression may include calcium and vit d deficiency.

Reflux: If you're experiencing true acid reflux it's probably more effective to switch to the ppi class of medications like prilosec or nexium (esomeprazole).  Don't forget to avoid alcohol,caffeine,nicotine or highly spicey foods. If symptoms persist, consult a gastroenterologist for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Chwable Tab/liquid: Zantac (ranitidine) comes in chewable tablets,each tablet is 75mgm so you can take 2 tab or 4 as needed.It also comes in liquid form for children and can be taken

son has laryngomalchia and silent reflux he on 3mls ranitidine a day and currently on steroids for breathing! silent reflux a problem?
