Sounds like a small: lymph node. These are present in that area in all of us, but swell up sometimes, more often in young children. It could also be a cyst under the skin. It is probably not a cause for concern if he is otherwise well, but you should have his doctor check just to be sure.

See below: Dear Kisha: When you  hit your cheek bone, probably a small hematoma formed on top of the bone..What you are now feeling is the blood clot that has solidified...It will take a relatively short period of time for this hard area to resolve...Sometimes a small cortizone (hydrocortisone) injection into the area will hasten the resolution

Dr. should evaluate: A doctor or a dentist can evaluate a problem in the teeth, gums, or cheeks (although a dentist is likely the better choice for teeth and gums problems). Pus in the cheeks usually means some infection, and the doctor may prescribe antibiotics. If the infection spreads, it may go throughout the face, and more seriously, maybe into the sinuses and towards the brain. Getting treatment is wise.

: Sometimes if you have bitten the inside of your cheek, a small vesicle can develop. If it is painful seek immediate attention. If it is non-painful, leave it alone for a week of observation and if persists, go to our dentist.

Hard to tell: Without seeing the ball it is hard to tell what it might be....  I would suggest having the dentist that removed the wisdom teeth take a look.

Itchy scalp: I cannot say that a small ball to the head would normally cause itchiness. A possible explanation if there is swelling in the area is the skin pulling secondary to the inflammation or irritation. Do you see a rash? Not likely head lice or such.

Probably lymph node: Enlargement of occipital nodes is a fairly common finding in viral illnesses.

Probably normal: If you are referring to the knotin the midline at the back of the head, it is a part of the skull where muscles attach from the neck.

If it is something else, it could be a lipoma or small fibroma, but should be seen by your doctor.
