Almost nonexistent : It sounds like you are reading a lot on the internet and that is good, but listeria is extremely rare and in 25 years of delivering 5000+ babies I have never had a woman diagnosed with listeria so you should be safe

Slimy bacon: If it smells fresh and looks pink the slime sensation may simply be due to fat extruding from the bacon.  It is unlikely to be transmitted Listeria from a sealed package.  Be well and have a great baby.

Listeria: typically by infecting the bag of water.  The symptoms might be mild enough that you might not be aware of them.  Listeria is not a very common cause of chorioamnionitis, but is quite serious.

Observe for signs: Listeria can cross through the placenta and cause both mother and baby to have flu-like symptoms including nausea and fever. If the infection worsens, it can cause the mother to become disoriented and can lead to convulsions and stiffness throughout the body. 

If any of these signs or symptoms occur, see your health care provider immediately.

Depends: The severity of listeria infection depends on who is infected.  People whose immune system is compromised, pregnant women, and the elderly are most significantly affected.  In pregnancy, the infection can cause fetal loss.  Others are more likely to get meningitis.  Normals rarely have any issues with listeria.
