Mucinex: Mucinex is used for relief of congestion and nasal saline rinses also are effective. Check the label of the bottle and preparation for dosing and the frequency of the dose. To loosen secretions, cool air mist may also be used.

Cause of HBP: My first guess is the person has been a smoker which increase risk of HBP.  Every cigarette increase BP for at least 30 min.  So if you smoke a pack a day (20 cigs) that is 10 hours a day and this may be the cause of your HBP. Check in AM before 1st cig.  If you smoke. Discuss with your team.

SOB: Saturation when oxygen is above 60 torr can range from 90-100%. Pe can be large or small. Air hunger can be when there is real causes as in pneumonia, asthma, pe or even when a lung is constricted and can't inflate fully and lacks the feeling of satisfaction, anxiety, nervousness, CHF or even simple cold with congestion can do it. It is best to talk to your doctor, he/she knows you better than us.

does the oximeter drop below healthy oxygen level if food is caught in your throat? i went to the er today but they never scoped or did x-rays to check, but said i'm mostly fine since i can eat, drink and talk and have healthy oxygen levels?

: Just like when you hold your breath, your blood oxygen content can decline some temporarily if the food issue interferes with breathing. If you breathe around it (food goes down a different tube) normal oxygen level would likely remain. Documentation of normal levels after the event means there was no longer term impact on your oxygen level/lungs.

: Catching food in your swallow tube can scrape the membrane and leave a sore area that feels like something remains, or trigger spasms when you try to eat/drink. GERD by itself can trigger the same type of sore or spasms. It would be wise to discuss this with your doc and decide on a management you understand. Avoiding caffeine or laying down after feeds is important if symptomatic.
