Usually benign: Lipomas are usually benign, but depending on location and size it may put pressure on a muscle or a nerve and start causing discomfort  and pain . Having it removed early is wise so you don't worry about it , also to make sure it's a lipoma and not something else.

Lipomas can push on: surrounding tissue, and if there is a nerve nearby that can lead to discomfort. Lipomas themselves are benign and tend to cause pain when they are in an odd location, when pressure is put on them, or if they grow so large they push on nearby muscle, etc. Removing them is usually a straightforward outpatient procedure done under local. See a doctor to make sure it is not related to something deeper
