Yes: At your age, abnormal menstrual periods are common.  It sounds like you had some premenstrual cramps and a short period.  This is common.  If you are worried about this though, you could always see your gynecologist or PCP.

 Try to drink Plenty of fluids, if cramps are bad, take Midol or other Anti inflammatory  medicines .

Take a test : Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

Not implantation : Implantation bleeding, which is rare, usually occurs 6-8 days after ovulation. If this doesn't turn into a full period see your doctor.

Not likely: A one day light period is a very scant endometrium(lining of the womb). When ovulation occurs, the second female hormone, progesterone, thickens the endometrium and when it sheds at the end of the cycle it is usually much more significant bleeding than &quot;one day light&quot;.

If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated.  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. If you are trying to conceive the schedule a visit. Schedule a visit to see if you are ovulating.

Normal.: Periods in teens are frequently irregular.  They take a few years to become established and regular. What you describe is completely normal.  If you have never had sex there is no possibility of pregnancy.

Depends on the past: "normal" period means a period that is like all the other periods one has had over the past year. If this "light period" that lasts "just one day" with menstrual flow going "on/off" is just like all the other periods in the preceding months, then a woman could think this is a normal period. However, with a positive pregnancy test, the vaginal bleeding is not a real period even if it seemed normal.

i took plan b two days before my period. i got my period a day or two late and now i've had a light period for 2.5 weeks. is that normal?

Plan B: Plan B can cause temporary cycle disruption. 2.5 weeks is a long time for bleeding. This is good opportunity to see an Obgyn and discuss your bleeding as well as your birth control options. This way you can avoid being in the situation where you might need Plan B.
