is it safe to weight training exercises in the gym? completed 4 months of tb treatment can tb relapse if i loose weight that i gained during treatment

Accepted Answer

Should be safe: It is felt that a person can remain contagious for several weeks after treatment has started, but by 4 months, you should be safe to go to the gym.  Your treating provider is better able to advise you.  You should not be at risk for relapse if you resume pre-treatment normal weight; becoming underweight might be a risk for relapse.

i am undergoing through mdr tb treatment i am having eyesight problem do i need to stop any of my medication? i have completed 3 months of treatment but still i am not gaining weight... how to know my medication is working or not?

: Ethambutol in group 1 can cause vision problem. Sputum smear &amp; culture should be done monthly until they become negative (conversion). Culture conversion determines the duration of injectable agent which should be continued for 6 months after the conversion. The treatment course should be continued for a minimum of 18 months after culture conversion. You need more treatment time for a good outcome

TB treatment: Probably it is the TB itself causing weight loss, not the treatment. You should start to regain weight as the infection improves. However, improvement usually starts long before 6 months. Check back with the doctor or clinic where you are being treated. Good luck!

does masturbation affect tb treatment? will it make me lose weight? if so, then shud i stop all joys during tb treatment? what for future sex life?

No relationship: Normal men, women, boys, and girls masturbate (it's universal). It is not harmful, as the body goes through similar effects during regular sex with a partner (but too much of anything may become a problem). Normal masturbation does cause acne or hair loss, make a person weak, create heart problems, lower testosterone, lower fertility, change one's weight, or alter the effectiveness of TB therapy.

is it possible for lymph node to enlarge during the fifth month of tb treatment? no weight loss or fever.is this hypersensitivity or what?

Normal: It's possible to have enlarged lymph node after 6 months. It can be related to immune responsive reactivation or persistent TB inflammation. It's comment n to see what we call immune reactive inflammatory syndrome

what is purpose of pyrazynamide (pza) in tb treatment and what may happen if not taken at all?

: Synergistic effect: Administration of PZA (Pyrazinamide) for the first 2 months with Isonizid and Rifampin followed by 4 mo of Isoniazid and Rifampin allows 6-month treatment regimen for pulmonary and extrapulmonary TB (except meningitis).  This shorter treatment regimen provides advantage of higher compliance and less drug resistance.

Effective: When taken faithfully, combination therapy of Isoniazid (inh)  with rifamycin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol, still is very effective against most TB infections.

Tuberculosis: If a person is treated with appropriate  medicine (that they are not resistant to) it is possible that they would not spread disease after around 2 or 3 weeks of treatment.

Don't Drink!: The best thing is to avoid toxins, such as alcohol.  Your doctor should also monitor your liver studies to make sure you're doing OK.  Most people tolerate the TB medications without trouble.

Good question but: this is a good question but have all the test been done. Some of the simple tests may not show intestinal tuberculosis. You need to discuss with your physician and have you see an infectious disease specialist and a gastroenterologist
