why is my lower right leg black and blue swollen after kne replacement several months later 13 doctors in ca do not have answer i m in a lot of pain ?

Need workup: Mri may be of help to diagnose the problem. Swelling can be the result of the lymph channels which have been overworked due to the knee replacement, it doesnt explain the discoloration. Consider use of a support hose to try  and reduce the swelling.

Swollen legs: firstly you should be evaluated by your primary physician start the process as to why your legs are swollen, as most likely the discoloration is as a result of the swelling.
Need to determine if this is a heart or kidney issue
If not then a vascular surgery consult to determine if this is venous disease would be in order

i was in a car accident on dec 2. my leg was black and blue below the knee on the side. x ray showed no broken bones. today it is still very swollen and red and feels warm to the touch. could a torn ligament cause this?

: Prolonged swelling,redness&amp; warmth are worrisome signs and not characteristics of uncomplicated torn knee ligaments. Possibilities include phlebitis, hematoma with cellulitis as well as knee joint injuries.Consult a physician or orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible. In the meantime elevate the leg when sitting &amp; apply warm compresses until you're examined.

Hematoma: You have a hematoma which does clear up on its own. If you have pain in the leg with weight bearing meaning there may be underlying fracture, then you should see a doctor. Otherwise, it will take time, but it will resolve.

recently had two dvts took blood thinners but i'm now off. the past few days my inner thigh has been swollen and black and blue. should i get help?

Depends: How long have you been off blood thinners, if it is more that a week or 2 it is unlikely the issue.  Did you have any trauma or other reasons to cause it?  Does it hurt?  If it is bothering you you should get it checked out by your doctor.

It could be a: Fracture, a soft issue injury, a sprain etc. To know if it is fractured you will need an x-ray. Medical history ; physical examination are also needed. Take care.

Needs X-ray...: In order to be certain you do not have a fracture, you need to have an x-ray. Call your family doctor to get this ordered. In the meantime, stay off it and apply ice to decrease swelling. Keep it elevated. If it is getting worse, go to the ER.

i sprained ankle 4 days ago . tear to lateral ligament . still severely swollen, black and blue and painful. shouldn't there be slight improvement by?

No: If you had a grade 3 sprain of your ankle ( severe) then you shouldn't expect much improvement @ 4 days.Swelling, discoloration are the norm. @ 2 wks you should be better but it may take 4-6 wks. For it to resolve.Consider seeing an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation, x-rays to rule out a fracture and treatment guidelines.Best of luck!

greetings... i got up off the couch a couple of nights ago, and i felt a pop in my knee... the next day i could hardly walk on it. the area around the knee was swollen, and the back of my knee became black and blue... should i be concerned? thank u?

: Yes, what you described warrants an in-person evaluation of your joint to rule to damage to ligaments and/or cartilage.
