Variable: The length of relief varies, and some do not get any relief at all. Risks include spinal headache or leak, headache, infection, and nerve injury. The steroid effect is usually a local one, and systemic effects are relatively minimized. However, some can have elevations in blood sugar, as well as some other risks of steroids. You should see a surgeon if you aren't getting better.

Epidural can help.: An epidural steroid injection would be expected to relieve, at least temporarily, the burning sensation and the weakness.  These symptoms, especially the latter, will most likely return sooner than later after even a successful injection.  The weakness suggests potentially more of a problem and you need an MRI of the spine if the weakess has been present for very long.  I would see your physician.

Varies: Lumbar epidural steroid injection is an outpatient procedure. The loss of feeling you are asking about and the duration depends on the type and strength of the local anesthesia used. A low concentration (for example 0.0625% bupivicaine) is unlikely to result in leg weakness or numbness but is usually strong enough to relieve some of the pain symptoms.

Yes it does!: Lots of people live not knowing they have 1. Also if some1 has pain and 1 is found, pain attributed to it. Surgery doesn't  always helpi have patients who  got rid of even foot drops with yoga and or rehab.
Pain is just your body telling you you are doing something wrong, and at that point it is often reversible if you listen. 
Yes it cd go away, but what you really need is have it silent.

Possibly: I would use the epidural to target the nerve that appears to be irritated based on your question.  Annular tears can result in back pain, but epidurals may or may not help.  Overall they are safe procedures and it would be worth a trial.  Injections should be done one at a time and not in series without re-evaluation.  They should not be done unless you have had a trial of physical therapy first.

Should not: You need to look at  the  rules of the race  and if a question ask the race organizer. You need to be certain your physician feels it is OK to run in the race.

Do see any problem: I don't think this should be a problem.  Since the tramadol is orally administered and does not contain any steroids to "add" to your steroid "load" , you should be OK.
