i was told i have a tumor on my left temperel lobe and now my doctor says he thinks its a cyst. which is worse?

Cysts are benign: A majority of the cysts are, by definition, benign. So , if it is indeed true, then you are going to do better with a cyst. So a tumor is typicall much worse than a cyst. But we have to make sure(with longer follow up) that there is no growth in this lesion, as tumors can sometimes look like a cyst and  be misleading. Only longer follow up monitoring would help to make this distinction more certain.

Depends: Size and location of the tumor have a lot to do with delineating the symptoms. The frontal lobe has a few different functions. Among them; speech, personality deficits and/or motor problems on the right side of the body can result.

Yes and no: Frontal lobe of the brain serves some executive functions. Without it, most people are functional and have no major neurological deficit and they can live near normal lives(provided the tummor doe snot recur.

i have a non cancerous tumor on my left lobe of my thyroid that's causing me pain. will the surgeon want to remove it even if the lab work comes back as a normally functioning thyroid? or does there need to be cause other than pain for him to remove?

Pain: Pain will  definitely be considered in the decision making as a variety of benign tumors are removed if they start causing symptoms. There are many other variables that will have to be considered and the surgeon assessing remains your best reference going forward.

Depends: I would recommend talking to your physician or a neurologist or neurosurgeon. This depends on the appearance of the brain tissue near/around the meningioma. If there are no reactive changes in the brain tissue, a 1 cm meningioma is typically not a big problem. But if there are changes in the brain tissue, it's can be problematic.

Less likely: Your symptoms may be caused by any number of conditions including headache (possibly migraine) or other neurological condition, vs. anxiety. i have a resected (90%) benign brain tumor in left temporal lobe. i'm on trileptal (600 +900) & i get epilepsy every 3 wks, dose issue? accumulation?

Other possibilities: Depending on the type of seizure (epilepsy) - grand mal, petite mal, partial, etc., Trileptal may be appropriate but at too low a dose, or you may need to take an additional anti-seizure medication.  Talk with your neurologist or seek out the opinion of another neurologist.

Brain tumor: Your scenario raises concerns, and would wonder about a localized glioblastoma.  You do not ask a question, nor indicate if you are taking medication.
