Difficult to tell: Without a physical exam or additional clinical history. Given your age this is most likely musculoskeletal or nerve pain.  For now can take ibuprofen and practice stretching.  Apply heating pad for possible symptom relief.

Try these: If you have not tried over the counter pain relievers, start there (unless you cannot take them; read the package instructions). Gentle neck exercises can help (like isometrics). When resting, try resting your forearm on top of your head. If the pain does not improve, see your primary provider. It may be a neck or a shoulder problem (or even something else).

i went to the er with severe left arm and upper back pain the er dr said my d dimer was slightly elevated but ct scan was normal. what an this mean?

Negative: Negative Chest CT Scan  means you do not have a pulmonary embolus or blood clot in the lung. But you could have it in the   arm  or  legs.

my friend has had radiating left arm, shoulder, jaw, and back pain for months. she feels like she does not  get enough air and gets bloated w/exertion?

Needs assessment: These symptoms could be related to cardiac issues and can have serious consequences.  Have your friend get assessed by a physician as soon as possible.  While cardiac disease in youth is rare, there are a number of congenital issues that can present this way.  If cardiac workup is negative, can discuss gerd, asthma, muscular issues, and nerve entrapments, but cardiac needs to be ruled out.

Multiple: Many things are possible, but the heart attack will harm you the most.  See a doc, get thatruled out, then they will look for stomach ulcer, gerd, esosphagitis, herniated disc in neck, etc.

Chest pain: Based on your description it does not sound like you had a heart attack. Lung and musculoskeletal pathology remain possible leads with a possible background anxiety disorder exacerbating symptoms.

last week i was sitting on a uncomfortable couch, and my back has hurt at times (not sure when it started). ive also had off and on chest pain that spread to my left arm and back. could my chest pain be related to how i was sitting on the couch?

: Given your young age and the lack of relationship to exertion and emotion,doubt this is cardiac in origin. From your description, more likely related to your posture. If you still have pain and it is bothersome, please get the opinion of your doctor.

can upper back pain lead to left arm feeling heavy?

Yes: Sometimes a disc herniation will present as a deep achy pain or sharp pain along the scapula or shoulder blade on the same side as the arm affected which can feel heavy without any neck symptoms.  This could also be a heart problem especially if it is affecting the left side.  Rarely, a tumor in the top part of the lung on that side can present like this-a pancoast tumor.  You should be evaluated.
