i'm a runner. my inner ankle bone has gotten larger & is tender after a run. it is not swollen.  i have sprained that ankle badly in the past. advice?

Tendinitis? : Based on your brief description, I would first consider posterior tibial tendinitis. Osteoarthritis is another consideration since this can develop years after a sprain. Stress fracture is possible but less likely. In the absence of a full exam and x-ray, I would use an orthotic/arch support, strengthen the ankle with a theraband and avoid running through pain- either rest or shorter runs.

i have very large veins on top of my feet and hands. what will happen if it's ever cut? those on my feet can be traced up to my ankle bone

Apply firm pressure : To the cut and elevate the extremity.  Veins will generally contract and clot quickly with this technique, but any major cut needs evaluation. A cut artery is under significant pressure and is harder to stop the bleeding.

Sounds like you : Should be evaluated properly before things get worse. Since you odont mention which side of the ankle, medial or lateral all we know is there is ankle swelling which could be caused by a multitude of problems. Bone spurs: Having bone spurs on those joints usually means there is arthritis of those joints most likely from an  injury since you are only 22 years old. Typical arthritis takes many more years to develop.  O-T-C anti inflammatory medication may help. However, long term use is usually not recommended. There are some topical anti inflammatory meds that can be prescribed. Best to see your Foot Specialist.

They Happen!: Most any joint can develop hypertrophy (enlargement) of bone.  "spurs" is the common term for this build up of bone.  It can be the result of trauma to the joint, osteoarthritis of the joint, other arthritis conditions and general wear and tear.  Just having them does not have to mean anything.  It they become large enough and in the right position, they can be painful and need medical attention.
