Bruising: If it is not getting worse and your comfort level is improving, it may take a while to fade away. If no improvement in your pain/functional ability, you need to contact your surgeon.

Some: It is not unusual to have some bruising after surgical procedures including laparoscopic procedures. It is usually not severe. If you are concerned about it then you should get back to see your surgeon.

Sometimes see this: It is not uncommon to have some swelling and bruising below an incision following surgery.  It would depend on where your incisions are located.  Very common after hernia - usually resolves in about a week or two.  You should have a follow up with your surgeon by then.

Can be normal: If there bleeding in the subcutaneous space (between your skin and the muscle of the belly wall) this can track down with gravity into the penis, scrotum, or down the thighs.  If he develops marked swelling, pain or passage of bloody urine, these are reasons to see your surgeon.  Icing the area may provide some comfort.

i am a female and have bruising near groin after laparoscopic inguinal surgery 4 days ago, not at incision site. is this normal?

It is probably OK: Pooling of blood can occur at places other than the incision after this type of surgery, but you should let your surgeon's office know tomorrow because there's not usually much bleeding expeced with these procedures.  Meanwhile, some heat to the area (hot pad or bottle, low heat) will feel good and help it to resolve.  Obviously, if you have a lot of pain or fever, you should call emergently.

Hernia: Could be incisional hernia, see your surgeon for evaluation.

Could be normal: Laparoscopic incisions go through a healing process similar to any other incision and the umbilical incisions often are a little more sore.   When bruising is present, it can feel firmer 5 to 7 days out from surgery.  A bruise alone will be fine.  If there is redness, drainage, or increasing pain, you should contact your surgeon's office.

Could be: This could be normal - depends on what you needed to have done - because you had a ruptured ectopic - you probably had more extensive surgery
