Lactose free cheese: It would be better to inquire about pizza made with lactose free cheese than trying to take so many pills, which may not be effective anyway.

Timing: They certainly do but they must be used correctly. I recommend one tablet at the beginning and one immediately at the end of any meal containing dairy or lactose. Remember to read labels.

Lactose intolerance: Causes gas, bloating, and diarrhea. It lasts about three hours after you drink milk. Pain two days later is not related to your drinking milk.

hi there, a couple of general questions. 1. is it safe to take those lactaid pills before having foods with lactose even if someone is not lactose intolerant? i am not sure i am or not, sometimes i get a little bloated, but feel fine?

: The pills contain the lactase enzyme that lactose intolerant people don't make or don't make enough of to be symptom free consuming the products. Enzymes are just complex proteins, the pills are not a drug that could hurt you. If you don't need it but take them it is just a different source of protein. Use if you desire, it may help.

There are many possibilities: You need a gastrointestinal evaluation. This is best done by a gastroenterologist. There are other products for lactose intolerance. Your evaluation  will see if there's another reason besides the lactose intolerance.

i am lactose intolerant and ate mac n cheese. my lactaid pills didn't work and am now so nauseous.  would indigestion pills work to calm my nausea?

Probably not: The symptoms of lactose intolerance usually subside several hours after the lactose-rich meal.  If your symptoms persist much longer than that,they may not be due to lactose.
