A member asked:

Hi there, a couple of general questions. 1. is it safe to take those lactaid pills before having foods with lactose even if someone is not lactose intolerant? i am not sure i am or not, sometimes i get a little bloated, but feel fine?

The pills contain the lactase enzyme that lactose intolerant people don't make or don't make enough of to be symptom free consuming the products. Enzymes are just complex proteins, the pills are not a drug that could hurt you. If you don't need it but take them it is just a different source of protein. Use if you desire, it may help.

Your doctor can tests you for lactase deficiency and if you are not deficient then you will need to spend money on lactaid pills that you may not need.
