Swollen thumb: Thumb swelling and tenderness suggests inflammation and/or infection unless you recently injured the thumb.  Associated redness can be from infection or other inflammation. Inflammation would be helped by medications like Advil or Aleve. I recommend an evaluation by your physician or a hand surgeon.

yes i'm having some pain in my middle finger when i bend it and it hurts to touch it on the left side of the finger on the knuckle. there is no swelling ?

Finger pain: That joint may be inflamed of sprained from injury of overuse. Lack of redness would tend to rule out an infectious process. You could try taking an anti-inflammatory medication like Advil of Aleve for a week. If symptoms persist I recommend consultation with a hand surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.

i got into a fight, i was defending myself. now my knuckle on my middle finger and ring finger knuckle on my hand are bruised really bad. their sore to touch, stiff, hurt to bend and i have pain in my wrist and up my arm. any ideas?

Family practice : Probably what ever is going on is affecting the ulnar nerve. Sometimes recurrent pressure on area can cause a neuropathy   sometimes surgery is needed to move the nerve where it can be protected from further injury.

Osteoarthritis thumb: at the cmc or carpo-metacarpal joint is a common cause of pain at the base of the thumb. Other causes of pain include tendonitis of the finger or thumb flexor tendons or wrist extensor tendons.Often Nsaids or corticosteroid injection and or soft splints can help.

i hit my knuckle on a wall and it was swollen right away but is less swollen now but grinds when i bend a touch it should i get it looked at?

Yes: its possible you may have fractured the knuckle so an X-ray would be needed.

The wall always wins: I assume you discovered this. You should get an xray of your hand, since punching out walls can lead to fractures.
Perhaps, consult your physician about anger management issues.

Looks like arthritis. 
Some ice and otc pain killers may help.

? trigger finger: Pain when bending the thumb is usually do to a slight swelling of the tendon that bends the thumb. This tendon must slide through a tunnel at the base of the thumb and the swollen tendon does not slide easily and can get stuck.  This can be treated with a splint the limits motion, anti-inflammatory meds, or more commonly a cortisone injection. Surgery to release the tunnel is occasionally needed.

Hand Surgery: It sounds like you need to visit a hand surgeon in clinic. Hopefully, you just bruised your fingers, however, you need a full exam of your hand to determine if any fracture, dislocation , nerve, blood vessel or ligament damage has occurred. Ice your fingers and splint them to protect them and make an appointment as soon as possible with the appropriate specialist. Good luck
