Osteoarthritis thumb: at the cmc or carpo-metacarpal joint is a common cause of pain at the base of the thumb. Other causes of pain include tendonitis of the finger or thumb flexor tendons or wrist extensor tendons.Often Nsaids or corticosteroid injection and or soft splints can help.
