Patella pain: Typically pain in that region originates from poor function of the kneecaps. If this in fact is true, a series of treatments may be helpful to eliminating the symptoms... injections, therapy, braces and even surgery can play a role in treatment of this condition

Osteoarthritis: You have knee osteoarthritis and possible meniscal and ligaments damage. Need to have x-rays and possible MRI. There are some new treatments with intra-articular HGH, PRP.

Knee pain: If you haven't recently injured the knee, at your age I suspect patella tendonitis is the cause of your symptoms. Prior cartilage damage is another possibility. For now I recommend rest from knee exertion and taking anti-inflammatory medication like Advil or Aleve(with food) for a week. Cold or hot applications may be used,also.  If symptoms persist consult an orthopedic specialist.

Chondromalacia: Very likely this represents roughened/damaged cartilage behind the kneecap termed patellar chondromalacia. 1st line treatment can include quadriceps, gluteal and hamstring strengthening; it band stretching and a knee brace that stabilizes the kneecap. Many other treatment options exist based on age, severity, activity level, etc.

Arthritis: When cartilage is new, it is smooth and glides over each other.  When the surfaces become arthritic, they become irregular and grate and crack as they go over each other. When this process involves the under surface of the knee cap, it is often worse going up and down stairs.

Doubtful: Cancer is statistically extremely unlikely.  Much more likely at your age would be conditions such as chondromalacia (wear and tear of the kneecap cartilage) or possibly cartilage wear and tear within the knee joint itself.  I would recommend seeing a physician for evaluation since symptoms have been present for a month.

Get examined!: Your symptoms suggest patellofemoral( kneecap) pain. Your 'cyst' may be causing the pain in the back of your knee ( popliteal/ Bakers' cyst ).Not sure if your 'partial' ACL injury is causing symptoms or not without a thorough examination( it can cause cysts in the knee joint occasssionally.) Something wrong: You need to see your primary doctor. If he/she can help you that's fine. If not you will be referred to a joint specialist. Have your doctor refer you.
