No: A knee can pop and crack (called "crepitus") for many reasons and not only because of a mcl tear.  Other causes include swelling (called "effusion"), synovitis (inflammation of the joint lining), a torn meniscus, or patella chondromalacia (irregularity of the articular cartilage surface).  Mcl tears are associated with medial joint line pain, tenderness, swelling, and buckling.

Possibly: You are right in saying that the medial and lateral collateral ligaments run on the inside and outside of the knee and they can cause pain.  But usually this would only occur if you had injured them and it is fairly uncommon to injure both.  If you are having trouble, consider being seen where an exam and possibly an MRI can pinpoint the problem.

It varies.: Usually mcl partial injuries heal within 6 weeks, improving with initial rest, brace, ice, then progressive exercise.

Yes: There are a number of sensory nerves around that area and it's not unusual for some of them to be irritated by the surgical process causing numbness or tingling.

It depends.: If you have pain along the inside (medial aspect) of your knee you may have had a MCL injury, but typically a person strikes the knee on the patella (knee cap) so a patella fracture or post-traumatic patella chondromalacia are more common.

It heals: Mcl sprains will heal on their own after 6 weeks.  In the meantime, a therapy program directed at range of motion, gentle strengthening and avoiding stress to the mcl is important.  Wearing a hinged knee brace will also protect the mcl while it is healing.

Mcl sprain: It takes a minimum of 6 weeks and sometimes up to 3 months to heal. The grade 3 tear is more severe and may not heal. It needs to be protected with a hinged brace and followed by serial physical exams or a mri.

More likely ACL Tear: Injury of the knee associated with a "pop" at the time of injury is most often associated with an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament. This injury is often associated with concurrent injuries to the menisci, which could explain the pain on the inside (medial) side of the knee. Bone bruising and injuries to to articular cartilage may also occur. I strongly recommend an orthopedic evaluation.
