Yes it can be: "popping " after a knee scope can be  normal for a fee weeks after the procedure; esp.For a plica and medial meniscus . If it continues , or becomes painful, contact your ors for re- evaluation. Best of luck!

Let me explain: When you have osteoarthritis in the knees this cleaning job will not get rid of the problem, it may ease it out for a while, having little pain does not surprise me.
Use medication for arthritis, lose weight if you are heavy , water exercise, may be an injection of steroid to the knee, i hoping that will make you feel better.

Knee pain: this should not be the cause of your lateral knee pain and there is likely a new pain generator, which could be IT band syndrome, fat pad impingement, or patellofemoral pain if MRI did not show any significant finding in the lateral meniscus or articular cartilage.

Arguable: Recent articles show knee exercises are as good or better than surgery for knee arthritis and meniscal tears treated with use and quad strengthening show almost the same results as surgery. If Aleve (naproxen) and good athletic shoes offer comfort, I'd avoid further surgery.  Take Chondroitin daily and hope for the best.

Yes: There are different ways of performing a knee scope. I personally only use two holes. One for the camera and fluid that goes in and out, and one for the instruments. Some surgeons prefer using a third hole for fluid in our out. It depends on personal preference and training. There are advantages of each. The additional hole makes it easier to see, but can inhibit the quad muscles after surgery.

Knee pain: Initially you can try nsaids or joint supplements. There is a high probability that you have arthritis in your knee. You may want to get a x-ray to establish if that is the reason you have pain.

Infection: Retear are some possibilities.  You need to report this to the surgeon who did yuor surgery.

Knee locking: You should have this discussion with your surgeon. If he does not give you a satisfactory answer and solution, it is okay to get a second opinion.

You should : See your surgeon.  Aside from the pain, I am sure he will want to ensure that the effusion is not infected.
