Hard to say: Pain in the Kidney area with fever will suggest Pyleonephritis. Uncomplicated UTI May cause dysuria. Suggest a second opinion or urgent care evaluation if symptoms persist

Trust your doc: This med is commonly used for UTI's when guided by the results of a culture. It is seldom used as a first line drug for unstudied cases, since there are other meds that cover a larger number of germs in general.

YES: Macrobid is approved for treating infections that affect the Urogenital system which includes the kidneys.  If you had a Urinalysis with a C&amp;S than you would know the bacteria and the medication that was best to use. Good luck.

Possibly: In general Macrobid is good choice for treatment of a urinary tract (bladder) infection.  Untreated utis can progress to kidney infections (pyelonephritis) and may still be treated with Macrobid if the antibiotic sensitivities of the culprit bacterial infection are known.  As always if a patient is not improving on a given regimen then the treatment must be re-evaluated promptly.
