Suitable antibiotics: U need 2c doctor who will send urine culture to identify bacteria causing infection ; which antibiotic will be effective to kill the bacteria. In mean time start u on a broad spectrum antibiotic like Cipro (ciprofloxacin) or Bactrim for 2 weeks whilst awaiting urine culture result ; chnage antibiotic if necessary. Macrodantin shouldn't be used (poor tissue penetration). Drink lots of water ; get lots of rest.

Antibiotics: A patient with a  kidney infections (pyelonephritis) should be treated with an appropriate antibiotic and be kept well hydrated after being seen by a physician.  Depending on the situation this can be done in the hospital or at home however,  if a patient is not improving on a given regimen then the treatment must be re-evaluated promptly.

Kidney infection : Is called pyelonephritis and is different from a bladder infection. A baldder infection or UTI is diagnosed with urine culture whereas to diagnose pyelonephritis a clinician uses physical exam to asses tenderness in back, imaging of kdineys with ultrasound or ct scan and urine culture results etc. No one single test is accurate in determining a kidney infection and this is a clinical diagnosis.

Recurrent UTI: Recurrent urinary tract infections, particularly infections in the kidney, are problematic.  You should probably see a local urologist to have a work-up to define the cause, as there is no simple answer to "why"! the doctor may be able to define a source and treat you, and hopefully help you avoid such episodes in the future.

Depends: Well..it depends somewhat on what caused the kidney infection.  If you had a kidney stone and an infection above that..then yes you could get another one causing infection.  If the kidney was damaged by the infection (pyelonephritis we call it)..then it could be prone to re-infection.  Truthfully, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Several: One could experience painful urination, frequency, blood in the urine, back pain, feverish, a possible odor to the urine, the feeling of urgency, etc.  If the infection was not treated, then it could progress to a more serious infection such as urosepsis, and/or hydronephrosis, etc. Get evaluated and treated best wishes.

Abnormal Urine tract: Get checked out for kidney stones , structural or functional abnormalities of your urinary tract.  Get a renal ultrasound for starters.  You may need a ct scan, voiding cystourethrogram or urology evaluation.
