Antibiotics: A patient with a kidney infections (pyelonephritis) should be treated with an appropriate antibiotic and be kept well hydrated after being seen by a physician. Depending on the situation this can be done in the hospital or at home however, if a patient is not improving on a given regimen then the treatment must be re-evaluated promptly.
