Proteinuria: Of course the amount of protein in your urine,as determined by analysis of protein amount in an accurate 24 hour urine collection, is very important. A nephrologist is best qualified to evaluate,advise and treat you for significant proteinuria. Appropriate tests will be ordered.

NO: This would not cause a false pregnancy test and i can not think of any medications except for the medication used in the bhcg diet  that would cause a false positive pregnancy test.

in my urinalysis, after 10 hours of fasting, the result shows three positive or plus signs in the protein. however, my creatinine is within normal range. my egfr is 80. do these results show that i already have chronic kidney disease?

: You should see a kidney doctor or nephrologist. The protein in your urine with a normal creatinine could indicate you are in the early stages of renal disease and it is likely treatable at this stage. A kidney doctor could put you on medication, diet and monitor your kidney function over time. Good luck!

No: However, some "herbal" remedies aren't what they're labeled to be. It's caveat emptor. One of the very common situations in alcohol recovery is a specimen that sits too long before it's checked -- it'll give a false positive for ethyl glucuronide. Might this have happened?

No: These "health shakes" are a mix of mostly placebos. For protein, your choices include everything from soy powder to a nice steak -- both are probably cheaper.

Yes: Your body will detoxify the alcohol in your liver, but if you get dehydrated, the kidney function will decrease causing more kidney problems.

Usually: Upto 2 drinks a day for men, and one for women are considered ok, but this might not apply to everyone. This amount might not be safe in more advanced ckd.  And this is for store liquor; moonshine on the other hand has lead and is notorious for causing kidney disease (lead nephropathy).

No, yes: This is a common, very mild health problem which predisposes to kidney stones. Drink plenty of water if you have medullary sponge kindey

PKD: Cigarette smoking always a bad idea with any type of disease as it can lead to cancer, atherosclerosis and increased risk of end stage renal disease.  Alcohol in small amounts (1-2 drinks/day) should not be an issue unless there is liver involvement with the PKD (it can in rare cases lead to such cystic involvement that the liver fails).
